Acessibilidade arquitetônica em instituições de ensino – caso Universo, campus Juiz de Fora

Although all individuals have the assured right of access to education, health, leisure and work, even today, there are architectural barriers that impede their transitions and locomotion. The aim of this study was to verify the inclusion of the disabled in the academic community at the Juiz de Fora Campus of the Salgado de Oliveira University - Universo / JF, in relation to architectural accessibility, comparing it with the Brazilian Standard ABNT 9050/2004. Initially, a theoretical research was conducted in articles and normative documents related to accessibility. Next, a comparison of Norma with the campus situation was made, focused on architectural barriers. It was noted that most of them meet the standard, but some of them were not complied with, according to the accessibility assumptions portrayed in the standard. It can be seen that among the elements found, the ones that most need to transform a space with greater accessibility and equality for all, is the lack of elevator and parking access ramp near Block 3. According to the results obtained It can be concluded that the institution has been engaged in the transformation of architectural barriers, but some measures still need to be incorporated.
