Resumo: As the identity/alterity processes are built from contact with other languages and cultures, one can perceive that the approach on the “other” stands out in contemporary narratives that address moving situations. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the construction of identity/alterity in the work Más allá del invierno (2017), by Isabel Allende, based on the character Evelyn Ortega, Guatemalan, who lives as an illegal immigrant in the United States. Therefore, this study proposes delving into the concept of cultural identity by Figueiredo and Noronha (2005), in addition to the concepts of “root” and “rhizome” by Deleuze and Guattanari (1995). Mother language.A partir do entendimento de que os processos de identidade/alteridade são construídos a partir do contato com outras línguas e culturas, observa-se que o tema do “outro” tem-se destacado em narrativas contemporâneas que abordam situações de deslocamento. Dessa maneira, o presente artigo busca investigar a construção da identidade/alteridade na obra Más allá del invierno (2017), de Isabel Allende, a partir da personagem Evelyn Ortega, guatemalteca, que vive como imigrante ilegal nos Estados Unidos. Para isso, o estudo busca analisar a obra a partir do conceito de identidade cultural de Figueiredo e Noronha (2005), usando também os conceitos de “raiz” e “rizoma” de Deleuze e Guattari (1995).
