RESUMO: A noção básica que norteia este trabalho é de que os indivíduos constroem sua identidade discursivamente e que essas identidades são passíveis de transformação, sendo a escola um dos lugares em que esse processo acontece. Como nosso objetivo principal, buscaremos analisar as representações identitárias feitas pelos alunos do segundo ano do ensino médio, de uma escola de ensino regular da rede pública de Uberaba/MG, em relação à Língua Inglesa. Mais especificamente, tentaremos alcançar os seguintes objetivos específicos: identificar os sentidos atribuídos pelos alunos em relação à LI; analisar como se dá a construção da identidade de falante da LI, desses alunos. Como suporte teórico, baseamos em Moita Lopes (1996, 2006), Celani (2002), Silva (2005), Cavalcanti (2006), dentre outros. A metodologia de pesquisa é de base etnográfica, visto que o instrumento principal para coleta de dados foi o questionário perfil. Percebemos, a partir das análises, que os alunos possuem um comportamento de colonizado quanto à LI, pois a identidade desses sujeitos é construída a partir do social, dependendo do discurso produzido e dos sentidos atribuídos em relação àquela língua para que a representação seja (trans)formada. Representação.        ABSTRACT: The basic guiding notion of this work is that individuals construct their identity discursively and that these identities are subject to be changed, and the school is the place in which this process happens. As our main objective, we will seek to analyse the identity representations made by the students of the second year of High School, a mainstream state funded school of Uberaba/MG, in relation to English. More specifically, we will try to achieve the following objectives: identify the meanings attributed by students in relation to the English Language (EL); analyse how the construction of the identity of the EL speaker is. As theoretical support, we base on Moita Lopes (1996, 2006), Celani (2002), Silva (2005), Cavalcanti (2006) among others. The methodology was based on ethnographic research, in which the main instrument for collection was the profile questionnaire. We realized that students have a behaviour as the colonized EL because the identity of these individuals is built from the social, depending on the discourse produced and meanings attributed towards that language to that representation is (trans)formed.
