RESUMO: O século XIX no Brasil assistiu a um importante comércio de livros realizado principalmente por livreiros europeus estabelecidos nas províncias e na corte, responsáveis pelo trânsito de livros entre Portugal e Brasil. Com o intuito de anunciar os livros à disposição do público leitor em suas lojas, esses livreiros publicavam diversos anúncios de jornal – ora longos ora curtos – contemplando desde lançamentosaté edições maisantigas.NoRio de Janeiro, umdos jornais de maior destaque era o Jornal do Commercio de ampla circulação e abordagem política, econômica, social e cultural, suas páginas revelam os mais importantes livreiros da capital do império. A presente pesquisa se propõe a localizar e examinar anúncios de romances, particularmente os portugueses, presentes no periódico Jornal do Commercio com o objetivo de investigar a circulação deromances dessa nacionalidade no Rio de Janeiro do século XIX, no final da década de sessenta daquele século, momento em que o romance encontra-se consolidado no Brasil. Anúncios de romances.   ABSTRACT: The century in Brazil watched an important book trade held mainly by Europeans booksellers established at the provinces and on court, responsible for the traffic of books between Portugal and Brazil. With the intent to announce books at public disposal for the readers in stores, these booksellers published many announcements on newspapers – sometimes long, sometimes short – contemplating from new releases to older issues. In Rio de Janeiro, one of the newspapers of great prominence was the Jornal do Commercio, with wide circulation and its political, economic, social and cultural approach, its pages revealed many of the most important booksellers of the empire’s capital. The present research proposes to localize and examine announcements of novels, particularly the Portuguese ones, present at the periodical Jornal do Commercio. With the objective of investigate the circulation of novels from that nationality in the Rio de Janeiro of the nineteenth century, at the end of the sixties of that century, the moment which novels are consolidated in Brazil.
