RESUMO: A linguagem registrada por escrito em processos jurídicos são fontes de grande importância para os estudos linguísticos. O presente artigo trata da análise de um processo inquisitorial contra um sapateiro judeu de nome Yuçé Franco, nas terras de Castela, demandado oficialmente no ano de 1490 e concluído em novembro de 1491. O caso é conhecido na literatura como Caso Santo Niño de La Guardia (DRUMOND ALVES, 2005, 2012). Nosso corpus apresenta a importância histórica de ter sido o primeiro processo jurídico-eclesiástico contra um judeu não converso. Nosso objetivo é, por meio de uma abordagem pragmática com recorte específico nos estudos dos atos fala (SEARLE, 1984) e nas estratégias de polidez à luz das teorias de Brown e Levinson (1987), apresentar uma análise de cunho diacrônico das evidências linguísticas para a construção da argumentação verbal (HAVERKATE, 1994) e das condições de preservação das faces dos agentes envolvidos na interação linguística (EBERENZ, 2003). A partir dos pressupostos teóricos explicitados, verificamos que os atos que compõem o texto do processo inquisitorial em tela são, majoritariamente, atos proposicionais. Além disso, a maioria das ações é de tipo diretivo e representativo (GRICE, 1975). Concluímos este trabalho no sentido de comprovar que o tipo de estratégia de polidez está imbricado com a tipologia dos atos de fala do discurso e que ambas refletem, no uso da língua neste período estudado, a tentativa de construção de identidades formadoras do atual povo espanhol (DRUMOND ALVES, 2005). This article deals with the analysis of an inquisitorial case against a Jewish cobbler named Yuçé Franco in the lands of Castile, officially sued in the year 1490 and completed in November 1491. The case is known in the literature as Caso Santo Niño de La Guardia (DRUMOND ALVES, 2005, 2012). Our corpus presents the historical importance of having been the first legal-ecclesiastical process against a non-Jewish Jew. Our objective is to present a diachronic analysis of the linguistic evidences for a specific pragmatic approach in the speech acts studies (SEARLE, 1984) and in the politeness strategies in the light of the theories of Brown and Levinson (1987). The construction of verbal argumentation (HAVERKATE, 1994) and the conditions of preservation of the faces of agents involved in linguistic interaction (EBERENZ, 2003). From the theoretical assumptions made explicit, we find that the acts that make up the text of the inquisitorial process on the screen are, for the most part, propositional acts. In addition, most of the actions are directive and representative (GRICE, 1975). We conclude this work to prove that the type of politeness strategy is imbricated with the typology of discourse speech acts and that both reflect, in the use of the language in this studied period, the attempt to construct formative identities of the present Spanish people (DRUMOND ALVES, 2005).
