Resumo: RESUMO: O trabalho apresenta uma leitura do Diário do hospício, de Lima Barreto, como crítica ao poder médico-científico no início do século XX. Em nossa visão, o texto do escritor carioca representa, além da necessidade de autopreservação, um gesto de resistência política e ideológica. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Memória. Diário. Loucura. Resistência.   ABSTRACT: The paper presents a reading of Lima Barreto’s Diário do Hospício as a critique of medical-scientific power in early twentieth century.
