Resumo: One important question related to the theoretical fundamentals ofeducational practices in popularization and publiccommunication of Science is the one concerning the difficultrelation between scientific knowledge and common senseknowledge. These are two forms of knowledge that seem toexclude themselves mutually at the level of the criteria they use toexplain the phenomena. If Science develops itself by contradictingcommon sense knowledge, how the popularization of scientificresults is possible at all? Is there a way back to common sensethat makes possible a dialogue between these two kinds ofdiscourse that strive to explain the same reality with so differentapproaches? In this study, Bachelardian epistemology is revisitedand, taking into account the opinion of other philosophers andscientists, we develop a critical standpoint that focuses andunderlines the importance of common sense in that old andpersistent discussion.
