Resumo: | This article presents a portrait of the experiences and challenges of Carapina, a peripheral neighborhood in the Minas Gerais city of Governador Valadares. Narratives that territorialize their (in)visible faces stand out, based on two realities: the accessible and legally recognized periphery, and the so-called ‘Buracão’, a region in its interior, stigmatized and without access to public resources. This is an ethnographic study, which adopted the method of participant observation and recording in a field diary conducted in a doctoral course. It is concluded that when thinking about the city as a social laboratory and the right to the city, the issue of public invisibility due to spatial segregation is highlighted in Carapina, as it points to nuances of social interactions that unfold in the community, constituting relevant specific multiterritorialities in the fight for recognition. |
