On Ghosts and the Historians’ (lost) Paradise: brief commentaries on the spectrality of the past and the history of the present

Resumo: The present text offers a few brief theoretical commentaries about the notions of spectrality of the past and history of the present, pointing out, by means of a critical discussion about the ontological realism hegemonic in disciplined historiography and its dependence on forms of historical temporalizations, synchronizations and representations that do not seem convincing in the face of many subaltern subjects’ perceptions that time is accumulation, not passage. From then on, the text, anchored on a few recent historiographical examples, outlines the idea of “critical desynchronization” not only as alternative to hegemonic ontological realism, but also as a theoretical recognition of the inevitability of representation as it concerns the writing of history.
