Sport managers and visions of sports policy in Brazil (1937-2016): a sociological approach

In this text it is on the agenda the figure of the managers who occupy the maximum post of the sport management in the country. Their profile is drawn, with the objective of identifying the habitus and capitals that were determining for them to reach such a position. In theoretical-methodological terms, a documentary and bibliographical investigation was conducted, according to the presuppositions of Bourdieu’s reflexive sociology. Considering the procedure of the 27 managers that took place in this position, in almost 80 years in which sports became a state issue in Brazil, it is important to note that political capital was central in their decision-making. It is also worth noting the use of the symbolic capital acquired in front of the Ministry of Sports for private purposes.
