The growing population of the world and the demands of new industry and irrigation technologies are increasing the demand for water resources. Being a scarce resource, water is now treated as an economic good, and is therefore subject to valuation. However, as demand for the resource increases, so does its price. Alternative solutions for human supply can be found in groundwater. The difficulty of groundwater lies in its capture, which requires the installation of water pumps. This work addresses the best ways to capture groundwater and the economic viability of alternativegroundwater abstraction for human supply.
