Resumo: The growing population of the world and the demands of new industry and irrigation technologies are increasing the demand for water resources. Being a scarce resource, water is now treated as an economic good, and is therefore subject to valuation. However, as demand for the resource increases, so does its price. Alternative solutions for human supply can be found in groundwater. The difficulty of groundwater lies in its capture, which requires the installation of water pumps. This work addresses the best ways to capture groundwater and the economic viability of alternativegroundwater abstraction for human supply.

This work addresses the best ways to capture groundwater and the economic viability of alternativegroundwater abstraction for human supply. O aumento crescente da população mundial e as necessidades trazidas com novas tecnologias da indústria e da irrigação tornam cada vez maior a demanda pelos recursos hídricos. Por ser um recurso escasso, a água passa a ser tratada como um bem econômico, sendo assim passível de valoração. Entretanto, conforme a demanda pelo recurso aumenta, também aumenta seu preço. Soluções alternativas para abastecimento humano podem ser encontradas nas águas subterrâneas. A dificuldade das águas subterrâneas se encontra na captação desta, que necessita da instalação de bombas de água.
