Resumo: Prematurity causes anxiety and stress for mothers, which may influence the performance to newborn care after hospital discharge. The objective was to understand the mothers’ perception of maternal competence for preterm care, between the third and sixth month after hospital discharge. It`s a qualitative research, with an approach of Alfred Schütz`s Social Phenomenology, carried out by interview with fourteen mothers in the follow-up clinic of the newborn at risk of a university hospital in Paraná. The following categories were identified: preterm care at home and expectations regarding care. It was possible to understand the maternal perception of their competence, revealing that mothers have insufficient knowledge for the preterm home care, and it is necessary an adequate plan of the health team to prepare the mothers during hospitalization and family follow-up for childcare in the community.

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2018-12-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/3162710.5902/2236583431627Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.44, n.3, Set/Dez 2018Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.44, n.3, Set/Dez 20182236-58340103-4499reponame:Saúde (Santa Maria)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMporhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/31627/pdfCopyright (c) 2018 Saúde (Santa Maria)info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMachineski, Gicelle GalvanReis, Nathália NascimentoVieira, Cláudia SilveiraOliveira Toso, Beatriz Rosana Gonçalves deCaldeira, Sebastião2019-11-20T22:07:41Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/31627Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaudePUBhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/oairevistasaude.ufsm@gmail.com || amanda.revsaude@gmail.com || beatriz.revsaude@gmail.com2236-58342236-5834opendoar:2019-11-20T22:07:41Saúde (Santa Maria) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)false
