Resumo: | The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of a multidisciplinary teaching in swimming on the performance of motor and aquatic abilities of children. Thirteen children, 8.24 ± 0.74 years old, have participated of 16 swimming classes of 45 min twice a week. The classes had the purpose an aquatic initiation with a diverse exploration of aquatic abilities of swimming, artistic swimming, water polo and diving. The performance of motor abilities was evaluated by tests of horizontal jump, throw and static balance, while the aquatic abilities were evaluated using a verification list. After the intervention, participants improve their balance with closed eyes and aquatic abilities, without changing horizontal jump and throw performances. Therefore, the multidisciplinary teaching in swimming is possible and supports a diverse aquatic abilities development. |

Participaron trece niños de 8,24 ± 0,74 años, quienes recibieron 16 clases de natación de 45 min, dos veces por semana. Las clases tenían como finalidad la iniciación a natación con exploración diversificada de habilidades acuáticas de natación, natación artística, waterpolo y salto. El rendimiento de las habilidades motoras se evaluó con salto horizontal, lanzamiento y equilibrio estático, mientras que las habilidades acuáticas se evaluaron mediante una lista de verificación. Después de la intervención, los participantes mejoraron su equilibrio con ojos cerrados y sus habilidades en el agua, sin cambios en la ejecución del salto horizontal y el lanzamiento. Por tanto, la enseñanza multidisciplinar de la natación es posible y favorece el desarrollo de habilidades acuáticas diversificadas.O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar o efeito de uma proposta de iniciação à natação com base multidisciplinar sobre o desempenho de habilidades motoras e de habilidades aquáticas de crianças. Participaram 13 crianças com 8,24 ± 0,74 anos, as quais participaram de 16 aulas de natação de 45 min, duas vezes por semana. Os encontros tiveram como propósito a iniciação à natação com a exploração diversificada de habilidades aquáticas da natação, do nado artístico, do polo aquático e dos saltos ornamentais. O desempenho de habilidades motoras foi avaliado por meio de testes de salto horizontal, arremesso e equilíbrio estático, enquanto as habilidades aquáticas foram avaliadas com uma lista de verificação. Após a intervenção, os participantes melhoraram o equilíbrio com olhos fechados e suas habilidades aquáticas, sem alteração no desempenho do salto horizontal e do arremesso. Logo, o ensino multidisciplinar da natação é possível e favorece o desenvolvimento de habilidades aquáticas diversificadas.
