Resumo: | The novel Cidade livre by João Almino rebuilds Brazilian’s capital by the use of fiction. The novel, while narrating the foundation of the city, gives voice to those people who helped on its construction, and by doing that, institutes, more than the episodic facts, but a meta-reflexive level that belongs to Literature’s and History’s apparatus. This paper focuses on the analysis of the singular architecture of the text and in problematizing its categories, which are conceived by the literature it exposes, trying to establish a parallel between the fabric of the novel and the presumed critics that sustain such categories. |
