Attachment Style and Conjugality: : A Systematic Review of Literature

Resumo:   This systematic review of literature aimed studies about the relationship between attachment style and marriage. Using the descriptors “estilo de apego” (attachment style) and “apego casal” (couple attachment) within databases of PsycInfo and Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, 257 articles were retrieved. After submitting to a criterion of inclusion and exclusion, it came down to 33 articles. The analysis of the studies published between 2007 and 2017, unveiled a variety of themes grouped in three enabling axes of marriage dimensions: individual, marital and contextual. It was identified the need for further studies approaching an adult’s role on attachment style in marriage. Further research should investigate which aspects of attachment style empowers marital quality.

Utilizando os descritores “estilo de apego” e “apego casal” nas bases PsycInfo e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde obteve-se 257 artigos, que submetidos aos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, retornaram 33 artigos. A análise destes estudos, publicados entre 2007 e 2017, revelou uma variedade de temas divididos em três eixos articuladores das dimensões da conjugalidade: individuais, conjugais e contextuais. Identificou-se a necessidade de mais estudos que discutam o papel do estilo de apego em adulto no contexto da conjugalidade.
