Resumo: This article presents a popular education model proposed by Catholic Sisters for needy women in the Ribeira Valley, south coast of São Paulo. The objective is to present how certain educational practices make possible the awareness of rural women farmers in communities away from urban environments. Evidencing the strengthening of the necessary resistance for the valorization of the ways of living of those populations, it carried out an analysis of contents on didactic materials that present the educative works of the religious women who configured the methodology of work for this communication, as well as participant observation. It is clear that a decolonial process does not come from public managers concerned about those who do not have access to school or adult education. This begins when the community itself decides to mobilize and integrate its residents for the common good. The actions exemplified in the course of this work can prove that women who have become more aware of their gender role have participated more actively in the world and work and have gradually achieved their civil rights and access to culture. They also expanded their social space and, began to trust themselves and their actions towards the family and the community.
