Reflections on the process of construction of racial identity in basic education of students entering the quota system in the humanities courses at the Federal University of Pernambuco

This article aims to analyze the data from a professional internship research conducted in partnership with the Center for Afro-Brazilian Studies at the Federal University of Pernambuco, where we heard the educational experiences of quota students from the Humanities courses, entering through the selection process of the Unified Integrated Selection System (Sisu). The candidates were analyzed in relation to their phenotype by the Heteroidentification Commission to prove their self-declaration as black and brown. The results of the research indicate that a good part of the students informed that they had not experienced the contents proposed by Law # 10.639/2003 in basic education, an important element for the understanding of racism and the process of affirmation of their black identities.
