Resumo: This article stems from the master's research developed from the problem that sought to identify to what extent the CME has influenced educational management. The aim of this article is to condense the central discussion of this dissertation. Thus, we gathered part of the bibliographic review that helps in the comprehension of the Councils of Education based on the understanding of its nature as organs based on the principles of social control and democratic management. It was possible to realize, that even crossed by tensions and contradictions, The Education Councils are fundamental mechanisms for the democratization process, considering this process as unfinished, in order to seek constant improvements and be attentive to the interests that threaten it.

El objetivo del artículo es condensar la discusión central de esa disertación. De esta forma, reunimos parte de la revisión bibliográfica que ayuda en la comprensión de los Consejos de Educación a partir del entendimiento de su naturaleza como órganos basados en los principios del control social y la gestión democrática. Fue posible percibir que, aun atravesados por tensiones y contradicciones, los Consejos de Educación se constituyen en mecanismos fundamentales para el proceso de democratización, considerando este proceso como inconcluso, en el sentido de buscar mejoras constantes y estar atentos a los intereses que lo amenazan.Este artigo decorre da pesquisa de mestrado desenvolvida a partir da problemática que buscou identificar em que medida o CME tem influenciado na gestão educacional. O objetivo do artigo é condensar a discussão central da referida dissertação. Desse modo, reunimos parte da revisão bibliográfica que auxilia na compreensão dos Conselhos de Educação partindo do entendimento de sua natureza enquanto órgãos fundamentados nos princípios de controle social e gestão democrática.
