Mãe não é tudo igual: a experiência emocional de adolescentes violentadas sexualmente pela figura materna

Even though the main aggressor in cases of sexual violence against adolescents is male, which explains the vast literature on this topic, it’s important to investigate cases in which sexual violence is perpetrated by a female figure who fulfills a maternal function for the victim. Thus, the objective of this research was to investigate the emotional experience of adolescent girls who were victims of sexual violence perpetrated by a woman who performed a maternal role, being involved as an offender or co-offender. We had five participants, between 12 and 17 years old, who were being monitored in an outpatient clinic specialized in comprehensive care for victims of sexual assault, with whom individual interviews were carried out, based on psychoanalytic guidance, mediated by the dialogical resource of the Thematic Story-Drawing Procedure. The result of each interview were transferential narratives analyzed based on the Multiple Fields Theory. The analysis made it possible to identify two fields entitled “The family-less” and “The powerful big boss”. The first one refers to the feeling of (non) affiliation in relation to the adolescents' families, which is associated with the maternal-centered culture in which we live. The second field deals with the participants' discomfort in relation to femininity, as well as the search for other female figures with whom they can positively identify. We hope that this research can provide greater visibility to cases of sexual violence in which the aggressor is a maternal figure, in addition to enriching the literature in the area, considering its scarcity.
