The main objective of this work is to highlight the trajectory of Ruth Guimarães Botelho (1920-2014) as a translator. It is justified by the possibility of demonstrating the richness that diasporic professionals can bring through a decolonial vision. As a theoretical framework, this research makes use of works that investigate power relations between colonialism and post-colonialism, such as Hall (1992; 2006), Bassnett & Trivedi (2003), theories of race in Brazilian society, such as Salgueiro (2007; 2014), and Kilomba (2019), especially with regard to the historical cut-off of the twentieth century, which is the period in which Ruth Guimarães lived. In order to achieve this goal, the methodology adopted was through a survey of Ruth's works, then from the survey focused on her trajectory and rethought paradigms and concepts in the face of her place based on the post-colonial approaches presented. The conclusion reached was that, because of her race and gender, Ruth was one more victim of the epistemicide created and very well developed by the hegemonic Brazilian system in the field of the academic and publishing market.
