JUSTIFICATION AND OBJECTIVES: In the gestational period several physiological changes and biomechanical adjustments occur, resulting in changes in the various systems of the body, and may lead to dysfunctions such as low back pain. The objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the number of gestational weeks and the functional disability related to low back pain in pregnant women. METHOD: This cross-sectional study was carried out with 29 pregnant women attended in the Physical Therapy Sector in Women's Health of the Federal University of Uberlândia. All the pregnant women were evaluated before the beginning of the physiotherapeutic intervention. The Oswestry Disability Index questionnaire, for the assessment of functional disability related to low back pain and the number of gestational weeks was determined by the medical record in the Pregnant Woman's Record according to the date of the last menstrual period. The Pearson correlation test was applied to evaluate the correlation between the low back pain-related disability and the number of gestational weeks of the pregnant women. RESULTS: No statistically significant correlation was observed between gestational week values and lumbar pain-related disability questionnaire values (p = 0,26). CONCLUSION: The present study did not observe a correlation between gestational age and lumbar pain related disability in pregnant women.
