This research has as general objective to analyze the reality of handball in Uberlândia from the perspective of the reference coaches of the city. The research is field. We used as a data collection instrument a structured interview containing 9 questions, with the first 5 trying to identify the profile of the participants. The main results show that there is a variability in the age and in the time of training of the interviewees, and in the workplace most of them are in private schools. We can say that the reality of the sport of handball in the city of Uberlândia, in the view of the reference coaches of Uberlândia, shows us that public policies lack priority, with projects that in the long term, can from incentives and financial support create training places, basic schools, promote events, discover and encourage athletes. In addition, it is important to motivate the participation of teachers in the area not only as former athletes or lovers of the sport, but as a possibility to work as professionals and to sustain themselves with the profession.
