Resumo: Brazilian diplomacy as it is known today had its attributes built slowly since the beginnings of the Brazilian Empire. Under elitist, patriarchal and sexist perspectives of society, men have been the protagonists of the diplomatic career since the beginning of Itamaraty. This protagonism remains until today, as the diplomat is personified as a white man, elegant, educated in languages and an appreciator of cultures - a view far from representing the diverse reality of the Brazilian people. In this sense, this article will present the main events involving the trajectory of female insertion in Brazilian diplomacy, a minority in Itamaraty, and what has been done to seek numerical equality between men and women in the career today.
