Correlação entre a incapacidade funcional relacionada a dor lombar e a qualidade de vida em gestantes

Introduction: Pregnancy its a physiological state and, as far as the fetus develops at the woman´s uterus, her body changes to suit and bear the baby´s presence. The changes may cause pain in the lumbar region of the spine. The cause of gestational lower back pain is multifactorial and may generate varying degrees of physical disability. It happens due to changes biomechanical and hormonal. Some authors have found that pregnant´s life quality are affected by lower back pain. So, the main study´s goal was to survey the correlation between inability related to the lower back pain and pregnant´s life quality. Method: Cross-sectional study with 29 pregnant women who answered a anamnesis and filled a questionnaire Oswestry Disability Index, to survey the functional disability related with the lower back pain and the questionnaire WHOQOL-Bref in order to evaluate the quality of life. The statistical analysis was performed using the software SPSS Statistics 17.0. The normality of the data was tested by Shapiro-Wilk test. To evaluate the correlation between disability related to lower back pain and the quality of pregnant´s life, was applied the Pearson´s correlation test. Results: When the correlation test of Pearson was applied, was observed a high negative correlation between the final score of the Oswestry questionnaire and the physical domain of the questionnaire WHOQOL-Bref, in addition to a moderate negative correlation between psychological domain and questionnaire´s data. Conclusion: In the main study, we could conclude that there´s a negative correlation between functional disability related to the lower back pain and the physical and psychological domain of the quality of pregnant´s life questionnaire.
