Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a common condition of persistent orofacial pain among non-odontogenic causes and its treatment and control is often very difficult, with great suffering experienced by patients. It is widely known that emotional/behavioral aspects are directly related to the painful phenomenon and these directly affect the positive or negative evolutions within a rehabilitation program. However, it is not known how this takes place. Characteristics of positive or negative coping with situations in the individual's life, associated with the presence of chronic pain, can directly affect the success or failure of treatment. The study aims to correlate the painful profile and emotional/behavioral states of individuals who suffer from persistent pain, diagnosed with TMD with the severity of their symptoms. It is a cross-sectional study in which volunteers of both sexes, aged between 18 and 60 years, who suffer from persistent pain and have a diagnosis of TMD, were invited to participate. Pain profile was evaluated using the Numerical Pain Scale (END) and emotional/behavioral aspects through questionnaires on symptoms of central sensitization, catastrophizing and TMD-specific kinesiophobia. Only four participants were evaluated. As a result, we totally lost any statistical power and for that reason, we chose not to present normality data and also not perform the correlation test. Raw data were presented. We hope that moderate to strong correlations will be evident between emotional/behavioral states and symptom severity in individuals diagnosed with TMD, especially in the presence of signs and symptoms suggestive of central sensitization, with this work continuing once partner centers resume their activities. attendances and more participants are included in the sample.
