Resumo: O artigo pretende discutir os conceitos caros aos historiadores da cultura e da religiosidade e mesmo aos que de algum modo enfrentaram os temas das práticas socioculturais nas áreas antropológica e antropológico-históricas. Por algum tempo, o conteúdo binário relativo à cultura de um povo vem sendo revisto por importantes autores com vistas a entender os fluxos e diálogos entre aquilo que chamamos de cultura popular e erudita. Assim desde a microhistoria italiana, fortemente influenciada por estudos antropológicos, aos estudos franceses das mentalidades, os enfoques nas culturas populares ganharam os campos das pesquisas mais variadas e acabaram sendo transpostos para cenários fora da Europa, incluindo o Brasil.

For some time, the binary content related to the culture of a people has been revised for important authors who aimed to understand the fluxes and dialogues between that which we call popular and high culture.
