Resumo: The objective of this work was the selection of yellow passion fruit genotypes making a comparative efficiency of methods, direct and indirect selection, index Mulamba & Mock and the genotype - ideotype distance index, based on morphoagronomic characters. The experiment was conducted with 22 genotypes of passion fruit, Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa, on the experimental field of the University Federal of Viçosa (UFV), Campus Rio Parnaíba, RioParanaíba/Minas Gerais. The experimental design was a randomized complete block, with five replicates and one plant per plot. Were selected two branches of the plant canopy, one east side and one west side, these were evaluated at 140 days after marking. For analyzes were measured ten variables, number of leaves, length of internodes, number of nodes, branch s length, branch s diameter, fresh weight, dry weight and dry matter content. After 70 days was gauged leaf morphology with the length of the midrib and largest width between the distal end of the outer lobes, as described leaf width. There was high genetic variability among and within genotypes, high values of heritability showing a good possibility of genetic gain from selection.The coefficients of phenotypic correlation exceeded genotypic correlation, showing that environmental factors were more determinants than genetic for expression of the characters. With relation to methods used the direct and indirect selection yielded high values of selection gains in almost all characteristics evaluated, except for the dry matter content had negative gains selection. The selection indices showed high gains positive selection for the traits analyzed and with better balance in the distribution of earnings for the traits under study than with the direct and indirect selection. Genotypes were selected in all methods as the most promising, recombine forming the population of the new cycle of selection in the breeding program, this work were 5, 7, 8 and 9.

O experimento foi conduzido com 22 progênies de maracujazeiro, Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa, no campo experimental da Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), Campus Rio Paranaíba, Rio Paranaíba/Minas Gerais. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com cinco repetições, tendo uma planta por parcela. Foram selecionados dois ramos na planta, um do lado leste e outro do oeste, estes sendo avaliados por 140 dias. Para as análises foram mensurados dez variáveis, número de folhas, comprimento dos entrenós, número de nós, comprimento do ramo, diâmetro do ramo, massa fresca, massa seca e teor de massa seca. Aos 70 dias foi mesurada a morfologia foliar tomando-se o comprimento da nervura principal e a maior largura entre a extremidade distal dos lóbulos mais externos, descrita como largura foliar. Houve alta variabilidade genética, entre e dentro das progênies, altos valores de herdabilidade, indicando uma boa possibilidade de ganho genético com a seleção. Os coeficientes de correlação fenotípica superaram os de correlação genotípica, mostrando que os fatores ambientais foram mais determinantes que os genéticos para expressão dos caracteres. Com relação aos métodos utilizados, a seleção direta e indireta proporcionaram altos valores de ganhos de seleção em praticamente todas as características avaliadas, exceto para o teor de matéria seca que teve ganhos de seleção negativo. Os índices de seleção apresentaram altos ganhos de seleção positiva para os caracteres em análise e com melhor equilíbrio na distribuição dos ganhos para as características em estudo do que com a seleção direta e indireta.
