O estudo se apoia na Teoria das Representações Sociais (TRS), levando em consideração suas aplicações para investigações em educação. Contou-se, também, com o aporte teórico de investigadores que se debruçam a estudar a relação família/escola. A pesquisa de aspecto quanti-qualitativo, transcorreu em uma (01) escola pública do DF, em duas fases distintas: a primeira delas com setenta e seis (76) pais de estudantes do 4º e 5º ano que constituíram a amostra do questionário de associação livre de palavras, analisado por meio do software EVOC (Ensemble de Programmes Permettant l’analyse des Evocations). A segunda fase contou com um roteiro de entrevista estruturada com a participação de doze (12) pais de estudantes do mesmo ano investigado - os dados foram analisados à luz de uma adaptação da análise de conteúdo proposta por Bardin. Os resultados da pesquisa indicam como principais representações sociais dos pais sobre a escola: Aprendizado e Educação. Denota-se, por meio destas representações sociais, que a instituição escolar, para os pais, é percebida com um lócus de desenvolvimento da aprendizagem, caracterizando-se, também, como um espaço de educação sistematizada. Vale salientar, ainda, que a escola é reconhecida como um elemento para a cidadania. No que tange ao roteiro de entrevista, verificou-se que os pais reconhecem a importância da relação família-escola no processo de formação de seus filhos, e que, para eles, se torna imperativo a construção de parcerias. Mediante esses resultados, constatou-se que a escola, na representação dos pais, é compreendida com um espaço de desenvolvimento cognitivo, social, afetivo, contribuindo no desenvolvimento de seus filhos e que a construção de parcerias entre a família e a escola é de fundamental importância para o sucesso pedagógico, de aprendizagem e para a vida em sociedade. ________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis work aims analyze the social representations of parents of students of 4th and 5th year of elementary school , from Distrito Federal (DF) , about school . The study builds on the Social Representations Theory ( SRT) , taking into account their applications to research in education. Also counted with the theoretical contribution of researchers huddled studying the relation between family / school. The research aspect quantitative and qualitative was made in a (01) public school in DF, in two distinct phases : the first seventy -six (76) parents of students of 4th and 5th year that constituted the sample of the membership answer the questionnaire free words, analyzed by the software EVOC ( Ensemble de l' analyze des Programmes Permettant evocations ) - 2003 version; The second phase was structured in a interview guide with the participation of twelve (12) parents of students of the same year investigation - the data were analyzed on an adaptation of content analysis proposed by Bardin (1994) . The research results indicate that social representations from parents about the school was: Learning and Education ; It seems, through these social representations that the school institution , for parents , is perceived as a locus of learning development , also characterized as an area of systematic education; It is noteworthy also that the school is recognized as an element of citizenship. Regarding the interview script , it was found that parents recognize the importance of family-school relationship in the training process of their children , and that , for them , it is imperative to build partnerships .
