Resumo: This work aims to analyze the representation of memory in the work A disciplina do amor (1980), by Lygia Fagundes Telles. In doing so, this work problematizes the way in which the narrator revisits the past in an attempt to understand the present.  As a product of language, the account of memories goes beyond its historical specificities. In the resignification of what was lived, the memories are juxtaposed in a process of alternation, giving rise to images which no longer correspond to reality. Memory, coupled with creativity, is a basic characteristic, in part, of the work of fiction writer Lygia Fagundes Telles, since the author treats language resources and the imaginative process through a web of fragmented memories, which allows for the protagonists’ comprehension of the facts and of themselves. In A disciplina do amor, memory reveals itself in a fragmented form. However, it is recognized as a common thread, potentialized by the narrator’s voice which provides new meanings about the memories, through the filling-in of gaps via the fictional perspective.

Siendo producto del lenguaje, el relato memorialístico va más allá de su especificidad histórica. En la resignificación de lo vivido, los recuerdos se yuxtaponen en un proceso de alternación, capaz de hacer surgir imágenes que se distancian de las reales. La memoria, aliada a lo creativo, es característica básica en parte de la ficción de Lygia Fagundes Telles, ya que la autora maneja recursos del lenguaje y del proceso imaginativo a través de una red de recuerdos fragmentados que posibilitan a sus protagonistas la comprensión de los hechos y de sí mismas. En A disciplina do amor, la memoria se revela de forma fragmentada. Sin embargo, se reconoce un hilo conductor común, potencializado por la voz narradora que produce nuevos sentidos a los recuerdos, a partir del reemplazo de las lagunas por el sesgo ficcional.O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a representação da memória na obra A disciplina do amor (1980), de Lygia Fagundes Telles. Para tanto, problematiza-se o modo como a narradora revisita o passado na tentativa de compreensão do presente. Por ser produto da linguagem, o relato memorialístico vai além da sua especificidade histórica. Na ressignificação do vivido, as lembranças se justapõem em um processo de revezamento que faz surgir imagens que se distanciam das reais. A memória, aliada ao criativo, é característica básica em parte da obra da ficcionista Lygia Fagundes Telles, já que a autora maneja recursos da linguagem e do processo imaginativo por meio de uma rede de lembranças fracionadas, que possibilitam às suas protagonistas a compreensão dos fatos e de si mesmas. Em A disciplina do amor, a memória se revela de forma fragmentada.
