Citizenship Learning: justifications for human rights education, religion education, philosophy and sociology in Brazil (1987/2006)

Resumo: We analised  proposals for educational content and school subjects elaborated in the between 1987 and 2006 in Brazil; specially human rights, religious education, philosophy and sociology. We sought to understand the justifications why these knowledge were institutionalized, in particular, how they were related to what we are calling “citizenship learning”. The documents which were the source for this analysis belong to the Justice and Peace Commission of São Paulo, Deputies House, Federal Senate and Federal Council of Education collections and they include the draft of proposals, reports and sentences. We also consulted official texts, books and handbooks which are produced by the agencies and agents who act in favor of the normalization of the aforementioned knowledge at schools. We hope to contribute to the analysis of expectations of democratization in Brazil asking for processes of elaboration of educational goals of certain contents referred to  "humanities".

Procuramos identificar justificativas para a institucionalização destes conhecimentos, especialmente o modo como foram relacionados ao que chamamos de “aprendizagem da cidadania”. Os documentos que foram fonte desta análise pertencem aos acervos da Comissão Justiça e Paz de São Paulo, Câmara de Deputados, Senado Federal e Conselho Federal de Educação e compreendem esboço de propostas, projetos de lei, relatórios e pareceres. Analisamos ainda textos oficiais, livros e manuais que compõem a produção das agências e agentes favoráveis à rotinização dos referidos conhecimentos.
