Resumo: This article analyses the effects and impacts of award policies on the performance of students in the Municipal Public Education Network of Teresina, using legislation and data related to educational performance and results made available by Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep) and by the Secretaria Municipal de Educação (Semec)of Teresina. The cenario is analyzed qualitatively to outline the design of policies and quantitatively according to the type of evaluation; in effect, periodic measurements performed before and after the award and in impact are observed, the interrupted time series method combined with the 'difference-in-differences' method. It was found that the awards had effects and impacts and improved educational indicators, the school performance of their students and the Índice de Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica  (IDEB) of schools in general and in the Municipal Education Network of Teresina, but there was not always a cause and effect relationship between them and the results.

Se analiza cualitativamente el escenario con el fin de perfilar el diseño de políticas, y cuantitativamente, según el tipo de evaluación; en la de efecto, se observan mediciones periódicas realizadas antes y después de los premios, y, en la de impacto, se utiliza el método de serie temporal interrumpida combinado con el método de diferencias-en-diferencias. Se constató que los premios han provocado efectos e impactos y mejoraron los indicadores educacionales, el desempeño escolar de los alumnos y el Índice de Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica (IDEB)de las escuelas y la Red Municipal de Educación de Teresina, pero no siempre hubo una relación de causa y efecto entre ellas y los resultados.Neste artigo, analisam-se os efeitos e impactos das políticas de premiação no desempenho dos alunos da Rede Pública Municipal de Ensino de Teresina, valendo-se da legislação e de dados relativos ao desempenho e a resultados educacionais disponibilizados pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep) e pela Secretaria Municipal de Educação (Semec) de Teresina. Analisa-se qualitativamente o cenário, a fim de se traçar o desenho das políticas, e quantitativamente, conforme o tipo de avaliação; na de efeito, são observadas medições periódicas realizadas antes e depois da premiação, enquanto na de impacto, utiliza-se o método série temporal interrompida combinado com o método diferenças-em-diferenças.
