Resumo: The article presents contributions of what could be called an African perspective for gender and feminist studies, based on the works and provocations of the Nigerian authors Ifi Amadiume and Oyèrónké Oyěwùmí. Their discussions will be considered in relation to other theories of gender studies, mainly the work of Judith Butler and Marilyn Strathern. Then, the particular case of Danish author Signe Arnfred and her fieldwork in northern Mozambique will be used to consider how both ethnography and theoretical displacements - made possible by the African critique on feminism -have influenced her work, specifically with regard to the analysis of female initiation rites in Makhuwa contexts.

Luego traigo el caso particular de la autora danesa Signe Arnfred y su trabajo de campo en el norte de Mozambique para reflexionar sobre cómo tanto la etnografía como los cambios teóricos que la crítica africana del feminismo hizo posible han influido en su trabajo, específicamente en lo que respecta al análisis de los ritos. de la iniciación femenina en contextos macuas.O artigo pretende trazer à tona as contribuições do que se poderia chamar uma perspectiva africana para os estudos de gênero e estudos feministas, a partir das obras e provocações das autoras nigerianas Ifi Amadiume e Oyèrónké Oyěwùmí, matizando suas críticas com discussões dos estudos de gênero, baseadas, sobretudo, nos pensamentos de Judith Butler e Marilyn Strathern.
