Imaginary formations about doctors in Brazil: some repercussions in the language

Resumo: This article seeks to undertake a reflection on how certain ways of speaking and writing are (dis)legitimators of given professions. Thus, through the theoretical assumptions of the History of Linguistic Ideas articulated in Discourse Analysis, I focus specifically on medicine and raise the question: how does the prestige related to the medical field affect the language? Based on this question, I think about the imaginary formations about the subject who occupies the position of doctor, establishing a relationship between them, and the tensions of power that are manifested in the language. In addition, I think about the writing, dealing with its relation not only with urbanity but also with the subject-doctor.

Assim, através dos pressupostos teóricos da História das Ideias Linguísticas articulados à Análise do Discurso, me debruço especificamente sobre a medicina e lanço a pergunta: como o prestígio relacionado à área médica repercute na língua? A partir desta questão, penso nas formações imaginárias em jogo acerca do sujeito que ocupa a posição de médico, estabelecendo uma relação entre elas e as tensões de poder que se manifestam na língua.
