The objective of this paper is to analyse the recent expansion of teaching and research activities in the field of intellectual property in Brazil. The dynamism of Brazilian academic research, with growing international presence through volume of articles indexed on the basis of the ISI Standard and network structuring, has as consequence an increasing demand for professionals well versed in the multidisciplinary and complex intellectual property activities in both governmental (ministries, universities, research institutes, regulatory agencies, judiciary, legislative, etc) and non-governmental sectors (private enterprises, NGOs, law firms, etc). The challenge consists of training professionals and enabling the development of intellectual property analysis and enforcement models more compatible with economies growing based on technology development. Evidences show the growing use of the interdisciplinary perspective in order to analyse intellectual property issues which is a very challenging academic approach.
