Presença dos compostos orgânicos voláteis em embalagens flexíveis de alimentos: revisão bibliográfica

This study tried to debate about the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) in flexible food packaging, with an emphasis on analytical and organic chemistry, in the food packaging area. A bibliographical search was made and information was collected through articles, norms, resolutions and laws. After observing the bibliographical material and, consequently analyzing, some compounds released from the packaging were highlighted, and later an analytical method of analysis was presented. Questions about the control efficiency of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were raised, with the intention to assure the packaging function, and to protect food characters without harming the human health. Ultimately, it was suggested the development of future studies applying the gas chromatography technique to detect and descript VOC’s in all stages of flexible packaging formation.
