Resumo: | Gallbladder cancer is a rare malignant neoplasm with a silent and aggressive progression, usually presenting a late diagnosis and with unfavorable prognosis. When the condition is incidentally found at cholecystectomy, it is called incidental gallbladder carcinoma, which is potentially curable and presents better diagnosis. The main goal of this article is to describe a case of a patient who had been diagnosed with incidental gallbladder carcinoma at cholecystectomy, paying attention to the importance of early monitoring of risk factors and carrying out a prophylactic cholecystectomy. In this case report: Female patient, 67 years old, with complains of epigastric pain and postprandial fullness five years prior to the first appointment. Six months after that, the condition got worse and irradiated to the right hypochondrium. An ultrasound revealed cholecystolithiasis and indicated videolaparoscopic cholecystectomy. The anatomopathological evidenced papillary-tubular neoplasm intracholecystic, with Tis staging tumor (In situ tumor). The surgery was curative, therefore reoperation was not recommended. This study emphasizes the importance of identifying the main risk factors for gallbladder cancer and shows the potential diagnostic and curative of cholecystectomy with biopsy when performed early. Through symptoms related to benign gallbladder disease and the association of predisposing factors to carcinoma, you can increase the chances of identifying this rare pathology. Further studies are needed on screening for early detection of gallbladder carcinoma, enabling better recognition and therapy for this challenging diagnosis neoplasm. |
