Aplicação do laser na endodontia: Revisão de literatura

The use of laser in oral health has gained more and more prominence and relevance, mainly for performing a tissue biostimulation, bringing great advantages in the healing and inflammatory processes. Its applicability in different types of treatment within endodontics seems to offer benefits when applied adjuvant to some techniques. This study aimed to carry out a survey and analysis of the literature on the use, applicability and effectiveness of the laser, in the different types of treatment related to endodontics. A search was carried out in the indexing databases: Pubmed, Scielo, Medline, in the period from 2010 to 2020 through pre-established terms, where 177 articles were selected, which were systematic reviews and randomized clinical trials, and after careful reading of title and summary, 18 studies were included in this review. Of the selected studies, 9 articles were systematically reviewed, and 9 studies of randomized clinical trials, which addressed issues of laser application when compared to analgesia after endodontic treatment, direct pulp capping, healing after endodontic surgery, canal disinfection and pulpotomy. Its broad application has shown new perspectives within endodontics, however its use is still under development, requiring more standardized studies, for the establishment of more relevant protocols and evidence, for its implementation within the endodontic routine.
