Resumo: Aging is the sum of phenomena that occur over the years and these events cause the acuity of the sensory system. Objective: This study will analyzed through a bibliographic review the influence of aging on the sensory system and the possible disorders resulting from this aging. Methods: A bibliographic review of the national and international literature on the subject was carried out, using Google Scholar, Lilacs and Scielo as a research database, furthermore, book references were selected for improving comprehension of the theme. The articles were selected according to the theme and published between 2005 and 2020. The searches were carried out between April to August 2020. Conclusion: Senescence directly influences the sensory system causing a great impact on the quality of life of the elderly people, either as a result of specific aging disorders, senescence, or pathologies indirectly linked to the degenerative process of the sensory system resulting from senility. Therefore, we conclude that there is a need continue scientific studies due to the complexity of aging actions on the sensory system.

Objetivo: O presente estudo analisou através de uma revisão bibliográfica a influência do envelhecimento no sistema sensorial e os possíveis distúrbios decorrentes desse envelhecimento. Métodos: Foi realizado uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura nacional e internacional sobre o tema, usando como base de dados para pesquisa o Google Scholar, Lilacs e Scielo, além disso, foram vistas referências de livros para melhor compreensão da temática. Os artigos foram selecionados de acordo com o tema e publicados entre os anos de 2005 e 2020. As buscas foram realizadas entre abril e agosto de 2020. Conclusão:A senescência influencia diretamente o sistema sensorial causando um grande impacto na qualidade de vida dos idosos, seja em decorrência de distúrbios específicos do envelhecimento, senescência, ou a patologias ligadas indiretamente ao processo degenerativo do sistema sensorial decorrentes da senilidade.
