Resumo: Endodontics is characterized by being a branch of Dentistry that treats and prevents the development of peripicopathies such as direct pulp capping, pulpotomy, perforation and root resorption as well as in paraendodontic surgeries. Root perforations are communications between the supporting tissues and the root canal, that is, the contact between the root canal, periodontium and alveolar bone. Its etiology may be due to iatrogenic or pathological factors. The aim of this study is to discuss the use of bioceramic cements in the endodontic treatment of root perforations, comparing the advantages, disadvantages, and properties of MTA, which is the gold standard for sealing root perforations with other materials such as Bio-C repair, Endosequence and Biodentine. This work is a literature review with a search in 3 databases: Academic Google, PubMed and SciELO, using 2010 to 2021 as a time frame. 39 articles were selected, using only 38. MTA was the first bioceramic material used in endodontic perforations, with excellent capacity for biocompatibility with adjacent tissues and sealing between tooth and supporting tissues. EndoSequence® root repair material Putty or Paste and Biodentine have a high degree of similarity with the properties presented by the MTA, differing in their presentation and composition. The best option for use in cases of root perforation is MTA repair HP when compared to other types of MTA presentation, overcoming its disadvantages. Bio-C repair is an excellent choice, meeting all the requirements for a good root seal and is "ready to use". There are still few researches about this product, as it was recently introduced in the Brazilian market, but it has been gaining space due to its advantages. All bioceramics mentioned were effective in the treatment of perforations, but due to the scarcity of studies comparing these cements, it is impossible to define which is the ideal bioceramic in cases of root perforations.
