Avaliação dos efeitos adversos produzidos pela utilização de contraceptivos hormonais

The use of hormonal contraceptives is largely disseminated among brazilian women as a birth and fertility control method, as well as a control of pathologies and hormonal disturbances. However, these medicines may have countless side effects. The present paper had as its objective to evaluate the adverse effects of the hormonal contraceptives reported by women who makes continuous use of these medicines.The research participants were women over 18 years old who use hormonal contraceptives or devices with hormones (n=175), and that accepted answering the online questionnaire (Google Forms) with questions related with the side effects noticed through the use of this medicines. The most reported adverse reaction among the research participants were acne control (41,1%), weight change (34,9%), decrease in libido (34,3%), mood swings (34,3%), blood loss out of the menstrual period (26,3%), lump (26,3%), the other effects had a smaller percentage, and yet they are very significative, such as the register of thrombosis (1,1%) and the variation in the cholesterol levels (1,1%). And with this paper, we got to the conclusion that those indexes enable us to warn that the use of any hormonal contraceptive must be done with professional support, wherefore, the information regarding those side effects becomes indispensable to recognize them in a faster way so that they can be treated efficiently.
