IDENTIFICATION, SELECTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PLANT SPECIES DESIGNED TO TUMUCUMAQUE SENSORY GARDEN, MUNICIPALITY OF SERRA DO NAVIO, AMAPA, BRAZIL

Resumo: In the sensory garden species used for landscaping must have specific characteristics that arouse the senses of human beings such as smell, touch and sight. Currently Sensory Garden has been the subject of studies related to the Teaching of Science as a space for the practical classes in the schools of basic education, as well as building up a tool of inclusion for students with special needs. The choice of species that meet these characteristics inherent in the Sensory Garden is the objective of this work. Thus the visit was conducted in 05 sites for verification of ornamental plants that exist there, and later performed the analysis and classification of these for use in the sensory garden. The selected plants were classified according to their habit, habitat, evolutionary group and sensory characteristics and the results grouped in tables and charts statements, also was concerned with the correct taxonomic identification of species. We selected the following species: Acalypha reptans Sw., Aloe vera (L.) Burm, Alternanthera dentata (Moench) Stuchlik ex RE Fr.., Anthurium andraeanum Linden, Arachis repens Handro, Catharanthus roseus (L.) G.Don, Episcia cupreata (Hook.) Hanst., Ixora coccinea L., Melissa officinalis L., Mentha sp, Ocimum basilicum L., Rosmarinus officinalis L., Sanseviera trifascinata Prain, Zoynia tenuifolia Thiele. The results demonstrated the predominance of exotic species introduced for the native, this is due to lack of research directed towards the identification of native species with potential use landscaping, and special sensory garden.Keywords: Science education; Amazon; ethnobotany.

Atualmente, o Jardim Sensorial (JS) tem sido objeto de estudos relacionados ao Ensino de Ciências como espaço destinado à aulas práticas nas escolas de Ensino Fundamental, além de constituir-se uma ferramenta de inclusão para alunos com necessidades educacionais especiais. A escolha de espécies que atendam tais características inerentes ao Jardim Sensorial é o objetivo deste trabalho. Desta forma, foi realizada a visita em cinco locais com JS para verificação das plantas ornamentais ali existentes, sendo posteriormente feita a análise e classificação destas para sua utilização no JS. As plantas selecionadas foram classificadas segundo seu hábito, habitat, grupo evolutivo e características sensoriais e os resultados agrupados em tabelas e quadros demonstrativos. Foram previamente selecionadas as seguintes espécies: Acalypha reptans Sw., Aloe vera (L.) Burm, Alternanthera dentata (Moench) Stuchlik ex RE F.., Anthurium andraeanum Linden, Arachis repens Handro, Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don., Episcia cupreata (Hook) Hanst., Ixora coccinea L., Melissa officinalis L., Sanseviera trifascinata Prain., Zoynia tenuifolia Thiele.
