Resumo: We evaluated the diversity of epiphytic bromeliads in a managed and unmanaged area of açaí palm (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) in the Environmental Protection Area of Island Combu, Belém, Pará. Two plots of 1 ha each were demarcated and subdivided into four plots of 50 x 50 m, we registered all bromeliads with the aid of binoculars and free climbing. To identify the species we used identification keys, specialized literature and comparison with herbarium specimens. We verified the vertical distribution and calculated the epiphytic importance value, the diversity indexes of Shannon (H’) and the inverse of Simpson (1/D) and the similarity indexes of Sorensem and Jaccard. In the area of managed açaí palms were registered 1,012 individuals, in four genera and seven species, in the unmanaged area were recorded 399 individuals, into four genera and six species. Guzmania lingulata and Vriesea amazonica had a greater number of individuals and epiphytic highest importance value in both areas. The diversity in the managed area was H’=0.44 and 1/D=2.4 and the estimated species number was about 9.  The unmanaged area presented H’=0.39 and 1/D=1.8 and the estimated species number was close to 8. We conclude that the traditional management of the açaí palm did not influenced the diversity of epiphytic bromeliads. Keywords: ecological association; traditional management; Amazon estuary.
