Analysis of the environmental perception of teachers and students of Raimundo Nonato Sobrinho School in Paragominas City, Pará State, Brazil

Resumo: Demographic growth, accompanied by technological advances and consumer habits, has increased the volume of solid urban waste generated by harmful impacts on the environment and on man. Among these residues, organic ones are the most produced daily and their use in the form of compost is one of the most promising alternatives, as it reduces the volume of them effectively. To this end, Environmental Education is seen as a way to make the population aware of more sustainable practices, such as waste reuse. Thus, this work seeks to analyze the perception and practices of environmental education of teachers and students of the 5th year in a school in Paragominas-PA. Data collection occurred through the application of questionnaires, which had open and closed questions, to 9 teachers and 47 students. The results indicated that the perception, both of teachers and students about the environment, was positive, however, there was a need to develop practical interventions in order to awaken students' socio-environmental responsibility. In view of this, composting was suggested as a way to reuse organic waste and to dispose of the compost generated in a vegetable garden at the institution itself, provided there was collaboration and encouragement from the school community.

Entre estos residuos, los orgánicos son los más producidos diariamente y su uso en forma de compost es una de las alternativas más prometedoras, ya que reduce su volumen de manera efectiva. Con este fin, la Educación Ambiental se ve como una forma de sensibilizar a la población sobre prácticas más sostenibles, como la reutilización de residuos. Por lo tanto, este trabajo busca analizar la percepción y las prácticas de educación ambiental de docentes y estudiantes de 5to año en una escuela en Paragominas-PA. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante la aplicación de cuestionarios, que tenían preguntas abiertas y cerradas, a 9 maestros y 47 estudiantes. Los resultados indicaron que la percepción, tanto de los docentes como de los estudiantes sobre el medio ambiente, era positiva, sin embargo, era necesario desarrollar intervenciones prácticas para despertar la responsabilidad socioambiental de los estudiantes. En vista de esto, se sugirió el compostaje como una forma de reutilizar los desechos orgánicos y eliminar el compost generado en un huerto en la propia institución, siempre que haya colaboración y estímulo de la comunidad escolar.O acentuado crescimento demográfico, acompanhado da ascensão tecnológica e hábitos consumistas, vêm aumentando de maneira considerável o volume de resíduos sólidos urbanos gerados e são responsáveis, sobretudo, por impactos deletérios para o meio ambiente e para o homem.  Dentre estes resíduos, os orgânicos são os mais produzidos diariamente e sua utilização em forma de compostagem é uma das alternativas mais promitentes, pois reduz o volume dos mesmos de maneira eficaz. Para tal, a Educação Ambiental é encarada como um caminho para conscientizar a população a respeito de práticas mais sustentáveis, como reutilização de resíduos. Dessa forma, este trabalho busca analisar a percepção e as práticas de educação ambiental de professores e alunos do 5º ano em uma escola de Paragominas-PA. A coleta de dados ocorreu através da aplicação de questionários, os quais possuíam questões abertas e fechadas, a 09 professores e 47 alunos. Os resultados indicaram que a percepção, tanto dos professores quanto dos alunos acerca do meio ambiente, mostrou-se positiva, no entanto, observou-se a necessidade de serem desenvolvidas intervenções práticas, a fim de despertar a responsabilidade socioambiental dos alunos.
