Perceptions of Oral Health Technicians for the practice of preventive actions against dental caries

Resumo: The objective of this study was to identify strategies for the prevention of dental caries in oral health teams. A focus group was carried out with Oral Health Technicians working in the Basic Health Units of the municipalities of the 15th Regional Health Department of the Paraná State Health Department, based on a semi-structured script, a moderator and an annotator, with the meeting being recorded and filmed. The transcription of the recording was performed manually and the speeches were analyzed according to the content analysis method proposed by Bardin, using the Atlas ti 8.0 software. Three facilitating strategies for the prevention of dental caries were identified: “Implementation of Preventive Procedures”, “Permanent Health Education” and “Empathy and Patient Motivation”. The Oral Health Technicians pointed out viable strategies for the practice of dental caries prevention, which can contribute to the improvement of the population's health care.

Se realizó un grupo focal con Técnicos en Salud Bucal que actúan en las Unidades Básicas de Salud de los municipios de la 15ª Secretaría Regional de Salud de la Secretaría de Salud del Estado de Paraná, a partir de un guión semiestructurado, un moderador y un comentarista, siendo la reunión grabado y filmado. La transcripción de la grabación se realizó de forma manual y los discursos se analizaron según el método de análisis de contenido propuesto por Bardin, utilizando el software Atlas ti 8.0. Se identificaron tres estrategias facilitadoras para la prevención de la caries dental: “Implementación de Procedimientos Preventivos”, “Educación Permanente en Salud” y “Empatía y Motivación del Paciente”. Los Técnicos en Salud Bucal señalaron estrategias viables para la práctica de la prevención de la caries dental, que pueden contribuir a la mejora de la atención a la salud de la población.O objetivo do trabalho foi identificar estratégias para a prevenção da cárie dentária nas equipes de saúde bucal. Foi realizado um grupo focal com Técnicos em Saúde Bucal atuantes nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde dos municípios da 15a Regional de Saúde da Secretaria de Estado da Saúde do Paraná, conduzido a partir de um roteiro semiestruturado, um moderador e um anotador, sendo a reunião gravada e filmada. A transcrição da gravação foi realizada de forma manual e as falas foram analisadas segundo o método da análise de conteúdo proposto por Bardin, utilizando o software Atlas ti 8.0. Foram apontadas três estratégias facilitadoras à prática da prevenção contra a cárie dentária: “Implementação de Procedimentos Preventivos”, “Educação Permanente em Saúde” e “Empatia e Motivação do Paciente”.
