Potential drug interactions in the Alcohol and Drug Psychosocial Care Center in a Northeastern Brazilian capital

Resumo: | Introduction: Mental disorders represent today one of the main challenges on the health agenda, both in developed and developing countries, constituting an important burden for public services. Objective: To evaluate potential drug interactions in a Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drugs, in São Luís. Method: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, carried out through the analysis of medical records of users of the Psychosocial Care Center in the period from May 2015 to March 2016. Potential drug interactions were identified and classified according to the drugs.com and Micromedex® database into mild, moderate, severe. Results: The study was carried out with 60 medical records of patients undergoing treatment at the CAPS-ad, 83% male and 17% female, with a mean age of 39.62 years for men and 37.7 years for women and 63% of the medical records pointed to the group of mental and behavioral disorders due to the use of multiple drugs and the use of other psychoactive substances. Among the analyzed records, 42 showed the possibility of drug interactions, being 1% mild, 80% moderate and 19% severe; 40% at risk of respiratory and central nervous system depression and 12% at risk of decreased pharmacological action by enzymatic induction of carbamazepine. Conclusion: The study revealed a high number of potential drug interactions that can compromise the clinical conditions of the patient and/or their treatment, thus revealing the importance of the health team's clinical performance. |

Objetivo: Evaluar potenciales interacciones medicamentosas en un Centro de Atención Psicosocial por Alcohol y Drogas, en São Luís. Método: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, transversal, con enfoque cuantitativo, realizado a través del análisis de historias clínicas de usuarios del Servicio Psicosocial. Care Center en el período de mayo de 2015 a marzo de 2016. Las posibles interacciones medicamentosas se identificaron y clasificaron según la base de datos drugs.com y Micromedex® en leve, moderada, grave. Resultados: El estudio se realizó con 60 registros de pacientes en tratamiento en el CAPS-ad, siendo 83% hombres y 17% mujeres, con una edad media de 39,62 años para los hombres y 37,7 años para las mujeres y el 63% de las historias clínicas apuntan al grupo de trastornos mentales y del comportamiento por uso de múltiples fármacos. y el uso de otras sustancias psicoactivas. Entre las historias clínicas analizadas, 42 mostraron la posibilidad de interacciones medicamentosas, siendo 1% leve, 80% moderada y 19% severa; El 40% tiene riesgo de depresión del sistema nervioso central y respiratorio y el 12% tiene riesgo de disminución de la acción farmacológica por inducción enzimática de carbamazepina. Método: Trata-se um estudo transversal descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado por meio da análise de prontuários de usuários do Centro de Atenção Psicossocial no período entre maio de 2015 a março de 2016. Resultados: O estudo foi realizado com 60 prontuários de pacientes sob tratamento no CAPS-ad, sendo 83% do sexo masculino e 17% do sexo feminino, com média de idade de 39,62 anos para os homens e 37,7 anos para as mulheres e 63% dos prontuários apontaram para o grupo de transtornos mentais e comportamentais devidos ao uso de múltiplas drogas e ao uso de outras substâncias psicoativas. Dentre os prontuários analisados, 42 apresentaram a possibilidade de ocorrência de interação medicamentosa, sendo 1% leve, 80% moderada e 19% grave; 40% com risco de depressão respiratória e no sistema nervoso central e 12% com risco de diminuição da ação farmacológica pela indução enzimática da carbamazepina.
