Fake News – The case of microwave cooking

Resumo: The information freely conveyed by social media is not committed to ethics, morals or any theoretical or scientific principles. This information can become a serious social problem when using false content to manipulate public opinion. If we consider that democracy and freedom are built with individuals who make conscious choices, the fake news, as it became known, must be fought. In this context, this article presents and discusses, in the light of scientific knowledge, the main information conveyed about microwave cooking between August 2020 and February 2021 by social media as a proposal to combat fake News. The results show that classifying news as false or true is not a simple task. This is because fake news tries to sensitize the reader and reinforce common sense ideas. Thus, we defend scientific literacy, as a result of an efficient teaching-learning process, as a possible way to fight fake News.

Aun así, las noticias con contenido falso o Noticias falsas, como se conoció popularmente, se comparten ampliamente. Esta información puede convertirse en un grave problema social cuando utilizamos contenido falso para manipular la opinión pública. Este artículo seleccionó la información más difundida sobre la cocción en microondas desde agosto de 2020 hasta febrero de 2021 a través de las redes sociales y la analizó a la luz de los conceptos científicos correspondientes. Los resultados muestran que la información, verdadera o no, busca sensibilizar al lector, reforzando la ocurrencia de catástrofes y se basa en ideas de sentido común. Por lo tanto, la alfabetización científica será una forma posible de combatir las noticias falsas.As informações veiculadas livremente pelas mídias sociais não apresentam compromisso com a ética, a moral ou com quaisquer princípios teóricos ou científicos. Estas informações podem se tornar um problema social grave quando utilizam conteúdos falsos para manipular a opinião pública. Se considerarmos que a democracia e a liberdade se constroem com indivíduos que fazem escolhas conscientes, as fake News, como ficaram conhecidas, devem ser combatidas. Neste contexto, este artigo apresenta e discute, á luz do conhecimento científico, as principais informações veiculadas, sobre o cozimento micro-ondas entre agosto de 2020 a fevereiro de 2021 pelas mídias sociais como proposta de combate às fakes News. Os resultados mostram que classificar uma notícia como falsa ou verdadeira não é uma tarefa simples.
