Qualitative study of environmental risks to health and safety of cleaning workers in the surgical center at Hospital Municipal de Itapuranga, Goiás, Brazil

Resumo: Identification of environmental risks inherent to the hospital cleaning activity in the surgical center of the Itapuranga Municipal Hospital, with the objective of improving existing measures and promoting the health and safety of workers. Through a qualitative study, with quantitative aspects, carried out through questionnaires, it was possible to characterize the profile of these workers. It was observed that: 65% of the workers are women, 78% have low schooling, 76% said that the work affected their health, 38% said they had health problems already diagnosed by the doctor, 33.33% mentioned the use of individual protection equipment (IEP). Professionals in the area of ​​hospital cleaning services constitute a population quite susceptible to occupational accidents, so the risks must be analyzed, aiming at their elimination or control, to improve the standard of living and health of workers.

A través de un estudio cualitativo, con aspectos cuantitativos, realizado a través de cuestionarios, fue posible caracterizar el perfil de estos trabajadores. Se observó que: el 65% de los trabajadores son mujeres, el 78% tiene baja escolaridad, el 76% dijo que el trabajo afectó su salud, el 38% dijo tener problemas de salud ya diagnosticados por el médico, el 33,33% mencionó el uso de equipos de protección personal (EPP). Los profesionales del área de los servicios de limpieza hospitalaria constituyen una población bastante susceptible a los accidentes de trabajo, por lo que los riesgos deben ser analizados, visando su eliminación o control, para mejorar el nivel de vida y salud de los trabajadores.Identificação dos riscos ambientais inerentes à atividade de limpeza hospitalar no centro cirúrgico do Hospital Municipal de Itapuranga, como objetivo de se aperfeiçoar medidas já existentes, e promover a saúde e segurança dos trabalhadores. Através de um estudo qualitativo, com aspectos quantitativos, realizado por questionários, foi possível caracterizar o perfil desses trabalhadores. Observou-se que: 65% dos trabalhadores são mulheres, 78% possuem baixa escolaridade, 76% afirmaram que o trabalho afetava a sua saúde, 38% afirmaram apresentar problemas de saúde já diagnosticados pelo médico, 33,33% mencionaram o uso dos equipamentos de proteção individual (EPI).
