Science Education in the early years of Elementary Education through the Science Fair for Little Scientists

Resumo: The study sought to investigate the contributions of a Science Fair, held at the Science Museum, on exhibiting students from the early years of elementary school. The evaluation of the Fair took place in two moments, in which the participation of each child during the scientific event was analyzed, considering their interaction with the visiting public, their skills during the presentation and the mastery of the theme presented. In the second stage, the Fair was analyzed from the perspective of the participating teachers, through the semi-structured interview. Their perceptions during the development of the works for the Fair were also investigated, as well as possible changes in students and in the classroom. 85 Children and 10 teachers participated in the Science Fair, where the presence of students in the process of literacy and special education was identified. 19 works were presented, categorized as experiments, games and models. The results showed the students' involvement in the different stages of the event: from the definition of the themes until the moment of presenting the work to the public. It can be inferred that, through the evaluation carried out, the Science Fair was relevant to the promotion of scientific education in children, which contributed to positive changes in the school environment, as well as a means of social inclusion.

La evaluación de la Feria tuvo lugar en dos momentos, en los cuales se analizó la participación de cada niño durante el evento científico, considerando su interacción con el público visitante, sus habilidades durante la presentación y el dominio del tema presentado. En la segunda etapa, la Feria se analizó desde la perspectiva de los profesores participantes, a través de la entrevista semiestructurada. También se investigaron sus percepciones durante el desarrollo de los trabajos para la Feria, así como los posibles cambios en los estudiantes y en el aula. 85 niños y 10 maestros participaron en la Feria de Ciencias, donde se identificó la presencia de estudiantes en el proceso de alfabetización y educación especial. Se presentaron 19 trabajos, categorizados como experimentos, juegos y modelos. Los resultados mostraron la participación de los estudiantes en las diferentes etapas del evento: desde la definición de los temas hasta el momento de presentar el trabajo al público. Se infiere que, a través de la evaluación realizada, la Feria de Ciencias fue relevante para la promoción de la educación científica en los niños, lo que contribuyó a cambios positivos en el entorno escolar, así como a un medio de inclusión social.No estudo buscou-se investigar as contribuições de uma Feira de Ciências, realizada no museu de ciências, sobre os alunos expositores dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. A avaliação da Feira se deu em dois momentos, onde se analisou a participação de cada criança durante o evento científico, considerando sua interação com o público visitante, suas habilidades durante a apresentação e o domínio do tema apresentado. Na segunda etapa, foi analisado a Feira sob a ótica das professoras participantes, por meio da entrevista semiestruturada. Investigou-se ainda, suas percepções durante o desenvolvimento dos trabalhos para a Feira, e as possíveis mudanças nos alunos e em sala de aula. Participaram da Feira de Ciências 85 crianças e 10 docentes, onde se identificou a presença de alunos em processo de alfabetização e da educação especial. Foram apresentados 19 trabalhos, categorizados como experimentos, jogos e maquetes. Os resultados mostraram o envolvimento dos alunos nas diferentes etapas do evento: da definição dos temas até o momento da apresentação do trabalho ao público.
