Resumo: The objective of this article is to report the case of a female dog, 9 years and 3 months old, with Diabetes Mellitus, mixed breed (SRD), her clinical signs and complementary exams, who arrived at a private clinic in the city of Lagarto-SE with ketoacidosis. and performed the use of FreeStyle Libre® to assess blood glucose during treatment. Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most frequent endocrinopathies and is characterized by an increase in the level of glucose in the blood, caused by problems in the secretion of insulin or in the action of this hormone, being of high importance in veterinary medicine and can cause alterations mainly in the carbohydrates and proteins of these animals. . The clinical signs of this disease are related to polydipsia, polyphagia and polyuria, in addition to other types of complications such as vascular disease, pancreatitis, ketoacidosis, cachexia and cataracts, and if not treated, it can lead the animal to death. The diagnosis is defined by evaluating the patient's blood glucose, clinical signs and the presence of glucose in the urinary test. Veterinary follow-up to correct the ketoacidosis condition, together with the use of the aforementioned device, was effective in measuring blood glucose, the patient did not experience any adversities and her clinical condition was stabilized.

La Diabetes Mellitus es una de las endocrinopatías más frecuentes y se caracteriza por un aumento del nivel de glucosa en sangre, provocado por problemas en la secreción de insulina o en la acción de esta hormona, siendo de gran importancia en medicina veterinaria y puede causar alteraciones principalmente en los carbohidratos y proteínas de estos animales. Los signos clínicos de esta enfermedad se relacionan con polidipsia, polifagia y poliuria, además de otro tipo de complicaciones como enfermedad vascular, pancreatitis, cetoacidosis, caquexia y cataratas, que si no se trata puede llevar al animal a la muerte. El diagnóstico se define evaluando la glucemia del paciente, los signos clínicos y la presencia de glucosa en el examen de orina. El seguimiento veterinario para corregir el cuadro de cetoacidosis, junto con el uso del dispositivo antes mencionado, fue efectivo en la medición de glucosa en sangre, la paciente no presentó adversidades y su estado clínico se estabilizó.O objetivo deste artigo é relatar o caso de uma cadela de 9 anos e 3 meses com Diabetes Mellitus, sem raça definida (SRD), seus sinais clínicos e exames complementares que chegou em uma clínica privada na cidade de Lagarto-SE com quadro de cetoacidose e realizou o uso do FreeStyle Libre® para avaliar a glicemia durante o tratamento. A Diabetes Mellitus é uma das endocrinopatias mais frequentes e caracterizada pelo aumento do nível de glicose no sangue, causada por problemas na secreção de insulina ou na ação desse hormônio, sendo de alta importância na medicina veterinária podendo ocasionar alterações principalmente nos carboidratos e proteínas destes animais. Os sinais clínicos dessa doença estão relacionados à polidipsia, polifagia e poliúria, além de outros tipos de complicações como a doença vascular, pancreatite, cetoacidose, caquexia e catarata, e caso não seja tratada pode levar o animal a óbito. O diagnóstico é definido através da avaliação da glicemia do paciente, os sinais clínicos e a presença de glicose no exame urinário.
