Prevalence and factors associated with frailty in elderly people assisted in primary care

Resumo: This study aims to estimate the prevalence of frailty in the elderly and analyze its association with sociodemographic factors, health conditions and social participation. It is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative, analytical approach, with 214 elderly people. Descriptive and inferential analysis was performed. The Clinical-Functional Vulnerability Index-20 was used for data collection and analyzed using descriptive statistics and 5% significance. Among the characteristics of the 214 elderly, 110 (51.4%) were classified as robust, 69 (32.2%) at risk of frailty and 35 (16.4%) frail, associated with more favorable and less favorable health conditions, respectively. . The study evidenced the prevalence of robust elderly, associated with socioeconomic factors and favorable health conditions, while the frail elderly in a situation of social vulnerability, demonstrating the importance of screening and consequent care for its prevention.

Se trata de un estudio transversal con abordaje cuantitativo y analítico, con 214 personas mayores. Se realizó análisis descriptivo e inferencial. Se utilizó el Índice de Vulnerabilidad Clínico-Funcional-20 para la recolección de datos y se analizó mediante estadística descriptiva y significancia del 5%. Entre las características de los 214 ancianos, 110 (51,4%) fueron clasificados como robustos, 69 (32,2%) en riesgo de fragilidad y 35 (16,4%) frágiles, asociados a condiciones de salud más favorables y menos favorables, respectivamente. El estudio evidenció la prevalencia de ancianos robustos, asociados a factores socioeconómicos y condiciones de salud favorables, mientras que los ancianos frágiles en situación de vulnerabilidad social, demostrando la importancia del cribado y consecuentes cuidados para su prevención.Este estudo tem como objetivo estimar a prevalência de fragilidade em idosos e analisar sua associação com fatores sociodemográficos, condições de saúde e de participação social. É um estudo transversal com abordagem quantitativa, analítico, com 214 idosos. Foi feita análise descritiva e inferencial. Utilizou-se o Índice de Vulnerabilidade Clínico-Funcional-20 para coleta de dados e analisados com recurso à estatística descritiva e significância 5%. Dentre as características dos 214 idosos, 110 (51,4%) foram classificados robustos, 69 (32,2%) em risco de fragilização e 35 (16,4%) frágeis, associados com condições de saúde mais favoráveis e menos favoráveis respectivamente.
